When arriving at the hotel, you are greeted by a friendly staff member who offers refreshments before turning in to rest after your travels.
This morning, you’ll be picked up early, and your private safari guide will be prepared with some delectable packed lunches. After that, you’ll drive out of Arusha and through the scenic Maasai Steppe Area on your way to Tarangire National Park, which is around 90 minutes away. This is Tanzania’s sixth largest national park, and it is known for its large herds of elephants, ancient and magnificent baobab trees, tree-climbing African Pythons, and a diverse range of beautiful bird species. Before driving off early this evening to the Ngorongoro Highlands, you will enjoy a full day game drive in the park and a picnic lunch at one of the several picnic sites. In the late afternoon, after a game drive, you will reach the lodge late in the evening and spend the rest of the day enjoying the lovely setting as well as the amenities on offer before having dinner and overnight.
After a hearty breakfast, travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping for lunch along the way at Gibb’s Estate, a 1920s coffee farm that has been lovingly renovated to create a tranquil guesthouse surrounded by floral gardens. After that, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about the Iraqw tribe’s people’s culture and beliefs, as well as join them for some dance, before continuing on to the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge. This one-of-a-kind low-rise stone lodge on the crater’s western edge appears to rise out of the natural surroundings. It’s a beautiful spot to see the sunrise. You’ll have access to your own rock-enclosed balcony with unobstructed crater views during your stay.
This morning’s early start will be well worth it for the opportunity to spend the entire day in the Ngorongoro Crater, complete with a picnic lunch overlooking a small hippo lake. Explore the magnificent crater and its animals by descending 600 meters below the rim. Explore the woodland, lake, and open grassland settings in the hopes of spotting a great number of animals—after all, the crater is home to Africa’s densest concentration of species. After spending a 6 hours game drive in the Ngorongoro crater, you will make a visit to see a Maasai village. This will be an opportunity for you to learn about the unique traditional way of life of this majestic warrior tribe. This tribe stands out because they have managed to maintain their culture despite the changes that has occurred around them. Later in the late afternoon you will drive back to Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge for dinner and the night.
After a very early breakfast, continue your journey into the heart of Tanzania by heading west, towards the Serengeti Plains via the Ngorongoro conservation area. You’ll make a stop en route to see the Olduvai Gorge Archaeological Museum, the site of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned archaeological discoveries along the way. Some of the man’s earliest known ancestral remains were discovered there. As you leave Olduvai, you’ll pass through the ‘Shifting Sands’ area, which is a spectacular volcanic sand dune phenomenon in the middle of the Endless Plains. After arriving in the Serengeti’s central region, you’ll spend some time searching the ‘Kopjes’ areas for the Serengeti’s resident big cats, which are frequently seen here. You will then be heading to your lovely permanent tented camp nearby to spend the night. The Lodge’s location will be chosen with care to provide excellent game and migration viewing during the season while remaining away from the park’s busier areas.
After breakfast, go on another full-day game drive through the central area of this wonderful park, admiring the flora and fauna. This will be another spectacular day, with a picnic lunch held in the wild again. The Seronera area is a year-round destination for wonderful game viewing and is home to literally hundreds of thousands of hoofed animals. The Serengeti ecosystem is the world’s oldest. It has a unique variety of plants and animals that are not found anywhere else on the planet. The Great Migration is the world’s largest overland migration. . The animals travel a total of 800 kilometres or more during each cycle, whereby approximately over a million wildebeest and tens of thousands of zebras and gazelles form one super herd. You will have the option to depart from the tent lodge very early this morning for a hot air balloon flight over the magnificent Serengeti, and you will then enjoy a champagne breakfast in the wild on landing. This option could be booked and paid for in advance or directly at the lodge.
After breakfast, check out and, after repacking your lunches, take a road transfer to the adjacent Seronera airstrip for the morning scheduled flight to Arusha airport, arriving around noon. After that, you’ll take a short flight to Zanzibar, the spice island. You will arrive in Zanzibar. One hour later, you will be met and get a private road transfer heading for your guided tour of the “Stone Town.” This tour is mostly done on foot. You will discover the streets, architecture, daily life, and places of interest in the historic and fascinating Old City and later enjoy shopping in the bazaars and other souvenir and antique shops found in the unique narrow streets of Zanzibar. It features the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean and just a hint of spice in the warm and fragrant tropical air. Then you will get a 1-hour private road transfer to Neptune Pwani Beach Resort and Spa, your lovely facility located at “Kiwengwa” on the northeastern peninsula of the Zanzibar Island. You will spend the rest of the evening settling in to your “deluxe room” before having dinner later on and then retiring for the night.
After breakfast, spend the remaining day relaxing on the hotel’s beachfront, snorkeling, or participating in other hotels’ and marine activities. Some activities are included in the package, while others are optional and can be booked and paid for at the resort.
After breakfast, check out and have a road transfer back to Zanzibar International Airport in preparation for your departure flight.
